Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for stopping by, I really appreciate the time you take to come here, and for your kind comments.
Some of you have wondered if I speak French. Yes, I do! The translations on my blog are made by myself. I can understand French, speak French, and I also read and write in French.(my written French is not perfect, but definitely understood.)

The following are my own photos, which I took this month on my cellphone. You can click on any image to see a larger view. Dollarama, a Canadian store, is a favourite of mine.
Tigre Geant (Giant Tiger in English) This is another of my favourite stores. This store is also Canadian.
This is a front seat siege reserve (reserved seat...there are around 3 of them near the front of the bus) on a Montreal bus. Again, as I have mentioned in my previous posts, in Quebec, French is always first, and the text is always larger. English is beneath the French description, in a smaller text. This is to alert the public that these seats are predominantly for handicapped people or a pregnant woman. Someone with a walker or cane, for example, or who may be using crutches. As well, note the picture with the dog. This could be a blind person or anyone that has a working dog.
This is a telephone booth that is a replica of the ones in England...as far as I know. What is unique about this is that this particular model is the only one in Quebec, as far as I know! This is situated in the Town of Mount Royal.
The following photos are ones I took on a walk in a park in August.
Take a walk down memory lane with this 1960's Purina Cat Chow TV Commercial!
A Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal.
Traditional Irish Dancers video.
The Forest's Illusion by Elias Blasing (soft piano music)

I love Irish dancing. And the flowers you snapped are so frilly. It is so right about anger controlling ourselves! I love the fifth image of the bird, sky and trees!
Betty White was so right...It's your attitude to life that makes the difference. I wish we had a Giant Tiger store locally. It sounds like they have great deals.
I loved that Purina Cat Cjow commercial! Thank you for all of the really deep and inspiring quotes. I read them all with a pause of reflection after each.
The cat food commercial was incredibly corny, but I think probably effective advertising at the time. I like the 'don't let tears in your tutu stop you from dancing'. The motorists seem very baffled by the cop with the shield. If it was the country to your south, they would probably be terrified.
There can’t be too many anglos who cannot by with at least basic French, but anglos my age were not necessarily conversant when I lived there in the 50s and very early 60s.
Dear Linda, Your morning dose of simple truths and optimism that you share here is bound to bring a smile to anyone’s face! And to make you laugh, I’ll tell you that our ginger cat Furianusz, also known as Funio (his name comes from the word “fury,” because he’s a volcano of energy and brilliant cat ideas), has recently mastered a new skill – he lies down on the desk next to my daughter Marta’s laptop keyboard and, using the gamepad, somehow manages to switch between pages. Of course, he does it by accident, but still – I saw it myself today. We joke that he’s searching for pictures of naked kitty-cats (of the hairless Canadian Sphynx breed). Sending hugs and wishing you a wonderful week!
I am just so very grateful this very second just to be able to see, just to be able to breathe, to be able to walk, to hear, to love, to live. Enjoy, every second is a precious gift! - Ahhhh, I love this one, a lot of people do not know how to appreciate the simple things and regret only after they lose them. And the soft piano music is awesome and so therapeutic! Have a good week ahead!
I like the pink flowers in one of the 3 photos you took. Can anyone just pluck the flowers to bring them home? I guess not. I suspect that there is a fine for plucking flowers in the park, is there?
The two stores that you like look like a huge single storet building with a big car park space next to it for convenient parking. I like stores like this. Don't find many of them here.
Hi Linda! Your Catnivore friend here hee..hee... The Purina video made me laugh :) I expected you to speak French since you are Canadian. I tried to enrol in French class at the university but the class was full so I ended up taking Dutch.
Beautiful with all the sayings and pictures! Your own photos are interesting again, showing what it looks like at your place and these shops. I wish you a lovely September! Hugs, Elke
Hello Linda, Great quotes and memes, the kitty images are adorable. I always enjoy reading inspiring and wise words. I love the flowers and the garden photos. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
Bonne semaine ! Anna
I especially like all your animal-related quotes today. 😺
I doubt anyone could live in the province of Québec now and not speak French. I was born in Montreal and grew up in Gaspe, moved to Halifax at 16. Whatever bit of French I had is long gone!
BTW, I LOVE Dollarama! I was just in one there yesterday. We have two Giant Tiger stores as well, though I don't go in regularly. I prefer to shop in Canadian stores, but in our small city, with limited options, it's not possible to do that exclusively.
Have a terrific week and have fun on all your walks!
The memes are good, some are so sweet. Like your photos, well done. The videos, never seen or heard of the first one but that is understood seeing as where I live. The funny one is rather good and the man in the car never changed his position. Love piano music. Take care, Linda.
David Suzuki’s words are so patently true as to be plain common sense, yet we don’t listen, do we? Bonne semaine! David
I think that counting our blessings and feeling grateful for them helps us to be more empathetic. As we realize that we have been blessed with good fortune, we can also see that some other people simply did not receive the same amount of luck for whatever reason.
There was some good advice today. I had four years of French and was relatively conversant. The adage 'use it or lose it' is very true. I know some word but after decades of not using it I don't know French anymore!
All great little messages. Today my favorite is the one from Di Riseborough, it falls in step with a saying I use a lot, 'you just have to keep on keeping on!' Hope you're enjoying a good day.
Great photos and quotes. I'll listen to Betty White, she lived to a fair age! David Suzuki, David Attenborough and Anthony Douglas Williams are so very right. We need to listen to them :-D
Beijos! (❁´◡`❁)
Hello Linda I do like those words by Charles Dickens. Lovely to see the red telephone box. Beautiful photographs from your walk in the park. I enjoyed the Irish Dancers.
Wishing you a happy and peaceful new month of September.
Betty White always had an optimistic mood :) Unfortunately, those who proclaim that we should protect the environment (they mean us not them!) are exactly those who actively destroy the environment. They tax people while they fly private jets and live luxuriosly without a care in the world, while getting paid to turn a blind eye on poisoning our water and air! Just as Jesus talked about the pharisees: "For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers." Matthew 23:4 Loved the Irish music and dancing :)
One of the things I kick myself about is not taking more than high school French. I did do one adult ed class once but it was more refresher. It would come in so handy!
Your post is such a warm dose of positivity. Thank you for reminding us of the everyday miracles and the power of gratitude. Greetings from Cracow, Poland.
I love how positive and thoughtful your post is. It really makes me stop and think about what matters, love, joy, and taking care of the planet. Your mix of quotes feels uplifting without being over the top.
Bom dia.
I think about the quote about biodiversity and the environment. It made me think that might also apply to to our own bodies and also to societies, that a very diverse society is healthy. Also I love the one dance before the music stops. That's my favorite today. Thank you.
Dear friend Linda, sorry I am late. I was off cause I was so nervous about yesterday and today... I was not allowed to speak French at ALSTOM. They said if they learn you speak French, the do nor speak English with you anymore (but official it is English). I LOVE Betty White and read one of her books right now. To Mother Earth! And dancing! See next Tuesday, if you like! We have a flying tiger! Love that shop! And such a British phone booth is found at our univesrity. That prank, hahaha!!
I so agree with the quote of being thankful for what you do have and can do, the older I get the more I appreciate what I can do, and try not to concentrate on what I can't anymore :) The garden pictures are so lovely! Have a wonderful week!
I so loved Betty White! Not only for her animal advocacy but for her sweet soul too. She was one of those people who should have lived forever!! Thanks again for the wonderful post, Linda. Much love, Andrea xoxo
So much good stuff. Loved "Every experience, no matter how bad it seems, holds within it a blessing of some kind. The goal is to find it." So true. And Sarah Ajna's reminder, and Ricky Nelson's quote, and Prncess Sassy Pant's meme. P.S. I used to speak French too, way back in the day when I attended the University of Montreal.
Hello, I enjoyed all the quotes my dear. ~ "I am sorry if you've heard otherwise, but the truth is, you are not at all difficult to love." I enjoyed this one. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us to press on this week. Sending love and prayers, Carla
these are all GREAT, but betty white is such a wise woman!! i like the picture of the phone booth, we have a couple around here and i always pause to appreciate them!! have a wonderful week!!
You have a beautiful blog. Full of inspiration. How can one go wrong with Betty White? I do love all of the photos. A phone booth. How fun. I don't see them here in my part of the States. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I invite you to join in for Friday Face OFF. FFO. Make a blog post with any kind of face. Put a link back to my blog and link up. It opens Thursdays at 5:30 PST US.
Beautiful selection again. I think being able to speak more than just one language is a real advantage. German is my native tongue, but I also speak English and French as well as some Chinese (I've forgotten a lot since I got my master's degree in Chinese studies almost 40 years ago) and I'm learning Spanish. The Irish dancing video is great! I once saw a young woman doing Irish dancing in the pedestrian zone in Galway, Ireland - it was lovely!
I love this saying. Sometimes you have to burn bridges to avoid crossing them again. Thank you for your compliment about my photography. Greetings Irma
I really like the quotes and pictures, dear Linda. The purring of the cats especially. Thank you also for your visit to my blog. Many greetings from Germany.
I knew most quotes, nice collection. The random pictures are really interesting. French being more important is political. I think both languages should have the same size and position (top vs bottom) to be displayed randomly. That cat TV ad is so strange.
Ah, Linda! Always a boost. SO many good words, so many uplifting ideas. I espeically love that one about anger -- not a power but a loss of power. I wish more people understood that.
Great quotes Linda. I learned French in school, but because I didn't keep it up I lost a lot of what I learned. A couple of years ago I started French lesson with a French teacher, but found we did a lot of grammar and I would have preferred conversational lessons. Have a nice week.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit me and for your comments. All comments are moderated to deter spam, so for this reason comments will not appear immediately.
As always, so much good stuff! I love English phone booths. I really liked the joy and wonder meme.
ReplyDeleteI love Irish dancing. And the flowers you snapped are so frilly. It is so right about anger controlling ourselves! I love the fifth image of the bird, sky and trees!
ReplyDeleteThe swat prank was nuts! Nobody scared, just baffled.
ReplyDeleteI love that seat on the bus! Every place should offer that. What lovely flowers on the streets. I do love discount stores.
ReplyDeleteGostei das frases, nos convidam a refletir.
ReplyDeleteAs flores são lindas,
Boa entrada de mês de setembro.

ReplyDeleteGood morning Linda, I speak verry little French. I do speak Dutch, Englisch, some German and Danisch. The quotes are great again.
ReplyDeleteBonjour, Linda :) That quote by David Suzuki is what I have been telling people for years! The red telephone booth is so iconic!

Yes, this is how our telephone booths looked like. Now with cell-phones people have to carry their own booth on their backs all the time.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hello Linda,
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes and memes, the kitty images are adorable.
I always enjoy reading inspiring and wise words. I love the flowers and the garden photos. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

ReplyDeleteDavid Suzuki is very right.
ReplyDeleteI also agree, with all my heart, that mental health is equally important. Or even more so.
Joy and wonder in the little things spoke to me this morning. We like the same stores too.
ReplyDeleteDavid Suzuki is right about the connection between pullution and natural environment. Unfortunately, we still take everything around us for granted.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you have not been well recently. Sending hugs. It's better therapeutic as always visiting your page. Blessings to you beautiful 😻
ReplyDeleteLove that Betty White comment--so true...[Ici on parle Francais aussi.]

ReplyDeleteThere was some good advice today. I had four years of French and was relatively conversant. The adage 'use it or lose it' is very true. I know some word but after decades of not using it I don't know French anymore!

ReplyDeleteThose were all good ones, I enjoyed them all.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful selection again. I think being able to speak more than just one language is a real advantage. German is my native tongue, but I also speak English and French as well as some Chinese (I've forgotten a lot since I got my master's degree in Chinese studies almost 40 years ago) and I'm learning Spanish.
ReplyDeleteThe Irish dancing video is great! I once saw a young woman doing Irish dancing in the pedestrian zone in Galway, Ireland - it was lovely!
What a good idea...having some seats reserved for those that really need them.
ReplyDeleteVery nice quotes, images and videos.
ReplyDeleteGreat post indeed.
Greetings
Hi Linda, the cat commercial makes me laugh, thanks!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous photos and quotes!
ReplyDeleteI know Canada is divided into English-speaking regions and French-speaking regions. Montreal should be in a French-speaking region, right?
ReplyDeleteBonjour Linda,
Merci pour ce billet, les citations, les vidéos;

I love this saying.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you have to burn bridges to avoid crossing them again.
Thank you for your compliment about my photography.
Greetings Irma
The phone booth reminded me of visiting Gibraltar :))
ReplyDeleteI really like the quotes and pictures, dear Linda. The purring of the cats especially. Thank you also for your visit to my blog. Many greetings from Germany.
ReplyDeleteI knew most quotes, nice collection. The random pictures are really interesting. French being more important is political. I think both languages should have the same size and position (top vs bottom) to be displayed randomly.
ReplyDeleteThat cat TV ad is so strange.
Ah, Linda! Always a boost. SO many good words, so many uplifting ideas. I espeically love that one about anger -- not a power but a loss of power. I wish more people understood that.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes Linda. I learned French in school, but because I didn't keep it up I lost a lot of what I learned. A couple of years ago I started French lesson with a French teacher, but found we did a lot of grammar and I would have preferred conversational lessons. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your uplifting quotes and beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteYou always find interesting things to show us. The telephone looks good to me. Happy week. Hugs Angela x
