Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! I want you all to know how very much I appreciate your visits and kind comments! It really means a lot to me! Thank you so much!
In response to my last post, some of you had commented that you were surprised that cats are more popular than dogs. I wanted to stress that I think this may be because some landlords will allow cats more readily than dogs, because cats, if they are going to "destroy" anything, it will be our furniture and not the property itself, whereas dogs can sometimes destroy the property (the larger dogs).
Not only that, but I think as well that cats are generally quieter, so landlords who own apartment buildings, especially ones that are not soundproof, are more likely to accept cats, as sometimes dogs can bark or whine. Cats are generally more independent than dogs, so they don't usually have the same separation anxiety when the owners are not at home.
This is what I think, and this has been what some landlords have told me, so I am just mentioning this to give some food for thought. It isn't that dogs are less liked than cats, (in some cases they are), but are less accepted for the above reasons I mentioned. One last thing is that dogs need to be taken for a walk on a leash at least a few times a day. This is not easy for people with less mobility. Cats, they take care of this themselves as long as they have a clean litterbox.
Here are today's picks, which I hope will brighten your day!

Tiny BuddhaThe following photos are ones I took this month with my cellphone. These photos were taken at Jean Drapeau Park, Ile Ste-Helene, St. Helen's Island, in Montreal. You can click on each image to see a larger view. You can visit Expo 67 to learn more about this.
I think you may be right about the cat/dog choice. I do prefer cats though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos today. I love the blue sky!
Oh I like dogs the best! Have a wonderful week:)
ReplyDeleteWe are a cat family here, probably because they are so much easier to train to use litter and don't have to be taken for walks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, love the red bus.
God bless.
That is a good point about cats. Plus, too, dogs are more work and care needed. Cats, I know folks who leave for a weekend with the cats at home.
ReplyDeleteHave to say I am a dog person for sure.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite today -
Have patience with all things, but first of all with yourself. - St. Francis de Sales
I've always loved dogs, Linda, and had an aversion to cats only because my mother didn't like them. However, we did adopt a sweet kitty rescue who we named Jordan, and she became a love in my life. Dogs do require extra effort to care for, and you have to be willing to make that sacrifice. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI like the bird sounds!! Sure don't have colourful birds like those here in Canada, do we.
ReplyDeleteThe clock is amazing! And my favorite quote is the first one about courage. The cat info really makes sense. I like the blue & yellow busses the best, they are pretty!
ReplyDeleteHave patience with all things, but first of all with yourself. - St. Francis de Sales...I need to remind myself this daily..
ReplyDeleteA very early morning to you. I guess you are still awake now.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite photo is the photo full of pine needles or pine leaves of the pine tree. How did you get this photo? The angle of the photo makes me feel like you are hovering in mid air like superman to take a photo high up a pine tree 😁
Your own photos with the sundial are beautiful, as are all the others, just like your buses, which are beautifully colored.
ReplyDeleteYour videos, cats, and sayings are great!
We have everything we need in our rental apartment, whether it's a dog or a cat! The one above me has two cats and keeps them mostly on the balcony. They whine loudly and often like a crying baby. On the other side, a small dog barks frequently.
hugs Elke
You are right! That's what I think too - cats are easier to manage compared to dogs. Dogs need a lot of attention. I used to have a dog when I was a teenager and the house my family lived in had a big compound for the doggies to run around.
ReplyDeleteThe purrs of wisdom are pearls of wisdom!
ReplyDeleteAll the memes are good, Linda. I like the gratitude one the best for me.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are lovely, the bus a little different from ours and how that garden clock looks, amazing seeing it's a working one.
The videos, enjoyed them all - the first one of course had me laughing and some of the birds I'm familiar with and love the first mobile phone :)
We had both: a dog and a cat! Whenever we wanted to go on vacation, caring for the dog was always a problem. The cat managed on its own. We loved them both. But if we were to have another pet, it would be a cat. Say what you like, but cats are easier to care for.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quotes and photos, Linda. Over the years I have had two dogs and many cats. Cats are my favorite animals without a doubt.
ReplyDeleteI think there a couple of Australian birds in the clip.
ReplyDeleteI like the Metropolitan Bus colours, but as a public transport user, I hate the windows covered in colour or advertising when travelling.
Don't Walk. Eh. made me laugh.
There were restrictions by body corporates regarding the keeping of dogs but state legislation enacted a few years ago overrode that, and if you register your dog with building management, you have the right to keep a dog.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have always been a dog person, but I do love the sweet kitties.
I always enjoy your inspiring memes and quotes.
The park and garden photos are lovely.
Take care, have a great day!
A wonderful post, very beautiful and inspiring. I've had cats since I was a child; they're always in my house. They're my favorite animals, I love them!
ReplyDeleteHello dear Linda! Your explanation rings true. It is the same here in Germany. I love all animals, but I've mostly had cats in my life. Wise words by Jane Goodall. I wish you a lovely day ♥
ReplyDeleteGood morning, good explanation about the cats. Interesting about the bus colors, enjoyed all the photos and quotes.
ReplyDeleteWe are back to very hot and humid again-sigh-but we did get a nice break from it for a few days. Hugs from the lake
I like all the memes. I saw a recent poll that showed dogs as being more popular than cats so I suspect it all depends on who you're asking. All good points about why a cat would be more acceptable in a rental than a dog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing ;) Beautiful photos :)
ReplyDelete"tell people you love their light and you appreciate them"
ReplyDeleteI need to do more of that.
Jane Goodall’s advice is spot on. One of my great heroes.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these photos / memes so much. I am becoming more of a "cat person", since we adopted our two porch kitties from an elderly neighbor who could no longer care for them. They have always been outdoor cats, strays who found a "home" at her back door, and now on my back porch. I find that I am falling more in love with them all the time, but they will remain outdoor kitties (at least for now. LOL). I've always loved dogs, but we just can't seem to take care of one very well. But we do love our two grandpuppies who come to visit us frequently. I hope you have a lovely day. Thank you for these positive posts! Always a bright spot!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this hot summer with animals. Take care.
ReplyDeleteCats are just easier. Dogs give us more but they also require more.
ReplyDeleteThe buses surprise me. They were all brown-beige back in my day. I’m sure that blue is better.
I have some memory of a park in Westmount. The neat thing about it was that it had a pond. I had a little toy boat. I took it to the pond, but it crashed and broke.
The Stop Waiting meme speaks to me today. A great reminder…
ReplyDeleteI really have to understand that the world won't stop if I unwind a little :)
ReplyDeleteThe greenery clock is fabulous!! I love it!
The video of the bird maestro is hilarious... everyone was very suspious ;)
Have a wonderful weekend!
The blue buses have a similar look to the Gatineau buses here.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this post and the videos. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteThere were some meaningful words for me in today's picks. I had dogs in my life since I was born, but now I am not able to care for them easily so I have lots of cats. Without dogs around I have been able to see the distinct personalities of those little beasts!
ReplyDeleteInteresting point about what some landlords have told you. Actually cats are more independent than dogs. Not to mention of dogs barking close the landlords' fence.
ReplyDeleteI also like the videos.
Greetings
I totally get "Don't wait". We should enjoy every day like there is no tomorrow. Waiting makes the life go by faster.
Saludos.
👍🌞
ReplyDeleteI loved those bird sounds! Some pretty fancy birds in that little video.
ReplyDeletei am not a cat or dog person and i also feel demographics determine the popularity of either!! i enjoyed the meme's...and all of your beautiful images!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great and wonderful photos :-D
ReplyDeleteI love my dogs and feel quite lost without them. They think they own the place and take up loads of our time but they give so much love, unconditionally X
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and quotes. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe bee quote is one I live by.
ReplyDeleteFirst time visitor. I would love to have a working clock like that in my yard. But I don’t think I could manage to get my husband to put one in. 😄
ReplyDeleteI have an elderly black lab and a gray cat named Susie. Both are my loves and they bring me a lot of joy.
Happy International Cat Day 🐈🐈⬛ lots of beautiful kitties again. I love all your photos too Linda. It's really wonderful seeing your part of the world 🦋🏵️💖
ReplyDeleteThere are a number of dogs in our building so I can indulge myself with getting pets in once in awhile. No more pets for us though because they're just too much work. A kitty would be nice but the RC has developed an allergy to them.
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful sayings. I think you stated very good reasons why people have more cats than dogs. As for me I'd rather have a dog.
ReplyDeletelots of things to read. I am a dog person, rather than a cat person. Hubby very allergic to cat dander.
ReplyDeleteThose were all great and yes, cats rule!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda
ReplyDeleteThank you once again for a packed post full of good things.
Have a great end of the week and weekend.
All the best Jan
Thanks for stopping by my blog, Linda. I enjoyed your post of quotes and pictures of Montreal--a place I'll never see in person. I did love visiting BC years ago. Hope you're having a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we do not have any pets. We have never had a cat but have had several dog pets. Our last one had cancer and we had to have her put to sleep. I just don't think I want to have another pet.
ReplyDeleteNo Cats No Life😁🐈
ReplyDeleteI love cats and dogs. Beautiful photos and nice blog.
ReplyDeleteAs I learned, sadly, how a loved animal died -three times (and actually they are family members) ... all I do is "enjoy" them online.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope Maleba is right... fK told me so, also... The patience is ... tough, though.
I am very much with Bethany.... And I am so lucky I have friends who push me to the better - and I do the same. Cause.. on Earth. And with love.
Great last video. And it´s still the same... aw, well we make it better, dear Linda! Thank you.
Thanks so much, Linda, for helping me add to my quotation's notebook! I was able to copy many of them.
ReplyDeleteSome really nice quotes. You have a beautiful place to take photos. I found the red and blue buses interesting. I hope the new mall is successful.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Cats are quieter, self maintenance pet. They live in their own world. Haha. Love those quotes along with the photos. Thank you for sharing. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection with photos and quotes.
ReplyDeleteI do not have fluffy friends, but I admire them where I can.
Thank you for some beautiful moments!
Have a fine weekend!❤️😘
Boa tarde, Linda
ReplyDeleteTenho uma cachorrinha chamada Nina, ela é um amor. Belas fotos e frases, ótimos videos, um forte abraço.
What you said about cats vs dogs made perfect sense, although I prefer dogs more than cats. Thankfully we own our own home so we can have a dog. I certainly enjoyed the bird video, such pretty little creatures that God made. Hope your weekend is happy and blessed.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good mood!
ReplyDelete'Don't walk, eh', we have little men, Linda, with closed/open legs. 'Just for Laughs' is great!
ReplyDeleteLie(f)s.
Beautiful photos. Montreal is such a wonderful city. I spent a week there for a meeting a number of years ago and fell in love with it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on our blog, your blog is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOi Linda! Eu sou do time dos gatos, nada contra os cachorros, mas acho que a personalidade dos gatos tem mais a ver comigo. Apreciando suas fotos, a flor é linda, que cor maravilhosa!
ReplyDeleteUm bom fim de semana! :-)
I love that working clock!! How interesting. I would have guessed that cats were popular because of the reasons you listed.
ReplyDeleteCathy
I think cats are easier to take care of and you can even go away for one night and leave them with food and water. Dogs need more care. Love all the quotes and the video of the gorgeous birds!
ReplyDeleteYou are spot on with what you said about dogs and cats. However, I am a cat owning dog person. I know, it sounds unusual, but that’s kind of the way it worked out.
ReplyDeleteA lot of great purr wisdom, but I like Jane Goodall's quote the best as well as the citizen of the earth. That's how I feel!
ReplyDeleteYour quotes are just wonderful Linda. As are your photos of Montreal. Thank you for your visit to my blog & your sweet kind comment. Julie xx
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the posters and photos! Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and inspirational quotes. Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to wish you a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour reflections on the cat-versus-dog discussion were thoughtful and relatable—especially the points about mobility and noise. The quotes you curated are like little soul-nudges, each one offering a moment of pause and perspective. And your photos of St. Helen’s Island are such a treat—there’s something so charming about that red bus and the garden clock! You’ve woven together inspiration, humor, and beauty in a way that feels like a gentle hug to the spirit.
ReplyDeleteBom dia e bom final de semana. Um excelente dia de sábado, com muita paz e saúde. Amei as flores, parabéns as fotos ficaram maravilhosas.
ReplyDeleteAww, I totally love how you shared all these quotes! It's, like, so inspiring and a great reminder to be positive. Your point about cats vs. dogs is super smart I never even thought about how landlords would feel about it. You're so right, though! Thanks for all the food for thought.
ReplyDeletePost completo, perfeito, esclarecedor.
ReplyDeleteImagens fantásticas, maravilhosas e pensamentos perfeitamente enquadrados na imagem respectiva.
Parabéns, Linda.
Beijo,
SOL da Esteva
Thank you for sharing all of this with us. I really love your thoughts on the whole cats vs. dogs thing it's super interesting and makes so much sense when you think about it from a landlord's perspective. It's not about which is better, but more about what's practical for different lifestyles, you know?
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes, I so agree with the not waiting to do things, you should go for whatever whenever you can :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics of the park, you have some neat colored busses.
Your arguments about why landlords prefer cats makes perfect sense. I love both cats and dogs, but dogs definitely need more care. Not everyone can afford the time to have a dog.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. You have a good eye.
The red bus looks nice. A clever way to advertise a mall.
Nice inspirational quotes as well.
Lindas as fotos eu amo gato tenho um aqui ele faz uma bagunça com os tapetes, passando pra desejar um feliz sábado bjs.
ReplyDeleteLovely and inspiring quotes and pics! May God bless you, Linda!
ReplyDeletelovely photos, and I prefer cats , love them ^^
ReplyDeleteDear Linda, thank you for sharing such wonderful wisdom and optimism with your readers. Your words are truly uplifting and inspiring. Warm regards! 🌹👍💙
ReplyDeleteThe cat v.dog situation makes sense. I always enjoy your images and their quotes, also your own photos and the videos. Thank you so much Linda and wishing you a very happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteEverything you wrote down makes perfect sense for me. As a person who lives in a large housing estate, where other people have cats and dogs, I confirm: dogs can be a nuisance. Unfortunately, some dog owners are very irresponsible. They leave their pets outside (rain or shine) for long hours, and the dogs bark, and bark, and bark... desperately trying to get in!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your inspirational quotes today and your beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful photo from your St. Helen's Island series.
ReplyDeleteAll the memes are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and videos 👏
¡Hola!
ReplyDeleteMe encantaron las fotos, muchas gracias por compartir.
En lo personal, prefiero los perros, jaja.
Ya te sigo, saludos desde México. ✌️
Great photos Linda, Bob. BSS.
ReplyDeleteGreat post
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and quotes!
ReplyDeleteEstou mais acostumado à conviver com cães, aprecio a amizade inabalável que nutrem pelos donos durante toda a vida.
ReplyDeleteO seu país é muito bonito.
Uma abençoada semana pra ti.
That wireless (hmmm) phone video is hilarious 😂 I went to like it on Youtube, only to discover that I'd already liked it! Absolutely no recollection of seeing it before!!! 🤯
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures. I've never had a cat as a pet because I'm allergic to them. But I have had hamsters, mice, gerbils, rats and now a dog.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your reflections on why cats might be more commonly accepted by landlords — it really does come down to practicality and lifestyle compatibility...
ReplyDelete
