A New Week, a Heat Wave for Many...Come on in and Relax or Cool Down!

Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! Thank you so much for visiting me here today! I have a nice selection of things for you which I hope will bring a smile to your face, a laugh or just to give you a chance to relax and live in the moment! Since the heat wave is not only here in Montreal but in many other places, I hope that the extra waterfall and rain images and waterfall and birds taking a bath videos will serve to refresh you in some way!

Today and Tuesday is said to be, according to the weather forecast for Montreal, 35 Celsius...which converts to 46 Celsius if you factor in the humidity! In Fahrenheit, this is 114! Even 100 is dangerously high and even the 90's, so imagine over 100 Fahrenheit. Of course I plan to stay in, I got a large grocery order delivered on Friday and thanks to a tip from my good friend, Stella, I went to the pharmacy to purchase some electrolytes. Thank God I have an air conditioner.

I had a bit of a scare on Friday morning, even though that particular day was beautiful, cool and comfortable. The few days before it, though, were hot and humid. When I rose out of bed, I felt dizzy and lightheaded, so I grabbed the bed with my hand, sat back down, closed my eyes and took some deep breaths, then proceeded to get up with no further incident. I drank a couple of glasses of water, then went out. My first trip was to the pharmacy to get some electrolytes.

I made sure to see that I was able to take them with the medications I am on...the pharmacist said I could. Please note that "over the counter" or OTC doesn't necessarily mean "safe to take", especially if you are taking any prescribed medication. It is always good to check with a pharmacist or doctor to see if it is good for you.

So now that I have the electrolytes I will use them as needed during this type of intense heat and humidity. I continue to drink plenty of water and stay out of this heat as much as I can. Dear friends and fellow bloggers, please stay safe and hydrated! Sending you all much love and warm hugs.

The following photos are ones that I took here in Montreal. You can click on any image to see a larger view.

I took this photo near the water at sunset years ago. Ducks were swimming and it was so peaceful and beautiful there.

These Canada geese were pretty close to me when I took this photo years ago. They did not attack me, they were just eating and relaxing by the water. I took this photo at sunset 🌇 my favourite time of day.

I took this photo years ago in a nature park. Of course, whenever I see the water or a fountain, in this case, both, I am automatically drawn to it. This little red wing black bird decided to join me in appreciation of this lovely tranquil moment.

This photo was one I took in a nature park. It was so beautiful, green and calming. Even though I am still at the learning stages of taking photos, I like how this one turned out with the shadow of the leaves over the green swampy area.

Here in Montreal, there are many murals on buildings across the island! This is one that I took last week on my cellphone, still experimenting with taking photos this way.

By now I think you all know how much I love the water....fountains, ponds, rivers, lakes, streams, waterfalls, the ocean! Well, this is a 3 minute video of a lovely fountain with nice greenery. I found watching and listening to this to be so soothing. Hope you do as well.

I am so glad you are all enjoying the Just for Laughs Gags (Juste pour Rire in French) videos, which are done here in Montreal. Here is another one for you. Enjoy!

This video is short just like all the videos I post. This is a very nice and kind man who sings and plays the guitar....and his audience are very appreciative animals! Enjoy! This is a lovely video.

This last video is of some lovely birds chirping and enjoying a bath...a one minute long video which I hope you will find refreshing and enjoyable.

  1. I had a similar experience at the Sunday School event. Luckily I was with my husband and grabbed his arm the rest of the night to steady myself. He was the one who suggested I was dehydrated. And I thought about it and he was right. I am being more mindful of drinking water now in this crazy heat.

  3. We’ll all be coping with the heat for the next few days. We won’t be out much, and I hope that it will be early or late if we are. I hope that your episode was just one of those things.

  4. Paint your life with love, and it will blossom. Love that.
We are near 100 this week too - it's awful.
    Love the Canadian Geese.

  5. I'm so sorry you had that awful experience, Linda, but so happy that you've recovered. This heat is horrid, my friend, so please stay safe and cool. Air conditioned spaces are the best! And the kindness we show to others daily is as nourishing as our daily bread. Blessings!

  6. Oh dear, that's very hot Linda. Keep up the electrolytes and take care.

  7. That's crazy hot for Canada! Here in Michigan we are predicted to be in the 100's most of the week. That's too hot for me, but I guess you have it worse.
Glad you are doing better and watching your electrolytes.

  8. 37C here yesterday and I sat at the balcony for 30 minutes to get some sun :-) It was HOT but I was fine. 35C sounds pretty darn hot for Canada.

  9. I love the one that has the cute patchwork house and clouds! Yes, we are having the heat wave for sure. I am waiting for fall already, but do not want to wish away time! Your leaf shadow photo is very artistic!!

  10. I'm pleased you are ok, Linda. Warmish weather can do all kinds of weird things to our bodies especially when you are not used to warmish weather.
The memes are wonderful with good things written.
The nature park photos are lovely too.
Good to hear the water fountain and it's a nice one in the video.
Love your 'Just for Laughs Gags', that is a good one and love that song. The video of the man singing and playing to the animals is just gorgeous. Of course it's always great to hear the birds chirping.

The temperatures in Mumbai have dropped a tad due to the onset of monsoon!

I am hoping for ☔🌧️ on my side here. The 🌞☀️ is too sunny.
Glad to know that you are ok. Was your blood pressure low when you just woke up causing you to feel dizzy? Take good care 🫂

  14. Such a great way to start the new week by reading those quotes on your blog :-) I completely agree on Bodi Dutte's quote about washing away our worries.
While we are acting, what we do "makes a difference" ... William James is also right.
I like also the video of the bathing birds, Linda.

Have a nice new week, the 1st one of this summer.

  15. Linda, I hope you are feeling better! I always thought that it is always cold in Canada. The heat wave is awful and we are having very very hot weather in Malaysia. I make sure I drink enough water. Like you, I also experienced dizzy spells and ensure that I replenish my electrolytes too by adding salt to my water. Take care!

  16. Your heartfelt message and soothing photos truly offer a refreshing oasis amid the heat, reminding us all to pause, breathe, and find peace in simple moments of nature’s beauty and kindness.

  17. Love the birds and water pictures.

  18. I usually suffer from cold weather. I do better in hot weather. Loved the quotes and images. If policemen told me to dance, I'd think they're drunk :)

  19. We have had a few very hot days here so your watery images were very welcome. The dance alchol test just hilarious fun. Thank you, Linda.

  20. Sunday was the hottest day so far this year over here. That is good advice re otc medications. Yes, hydration is important. I've also put out water bowls for the wildlife. Loving that first quote! Take care, Linda!

  22. The heat is here in Northwestern Pennsylvania too. I don't have an air conditioner this year as mine fell out of the window last fall. I'm living in my basement which is cooler and running a fan. It makes it bearable.
    Take care and stay hydrated.

  23. Pretty hot here in southern Ontario, too. Yesterday it was 33 degrees (air temperature) and it is forecasted to get up there again today. We’ll stay indoors mostly, and make a pitcher of iced coffee. Can’t change the weather so just have to cope with it!

  24. Hi, Linda!

Happy Monday to you, dear friend!

The extreme heat has moved into my region as well. Triple digit (F) temps are forecast here for at least two days this week. As you pointed out, the heat poses a hazard for anyone needing to spend time outdoors.

I always appreciate your affirmations reminding us how important it is and how good it feels to come from kindness, empathy, generosity and gratitude, to lift people up rather than tear them down, to have a positive impact and make a difference in someone's life. This is my model of the world. It certainly is true that if you go in search of beauty, goodness and light, you will surely find them in abundance, just as you will readily find ugliness, hate and darkness if that is what you choose to seek.

I enjoyed your images of ducks, geese, swamp and fountains. It fascinates me how various types of animals are drawn to music. Those video examples are truly heartwarming. In my opinion, animals are the finest among us, our brothers and sisters. and they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.

Thank you very much for visiting me at Shady's Place this month. I will be back on the circuit July 20 when I will be celebrating my 17 year blogiversary. Take care of yourself, dear friend Linda!

  25. Good morning, so good to read you are feeling better and safe. That is many days to be in that extreme heat. Nice you can have groceries delivered too. Drinking plenty of water during these hot days is a must too.
Thank you for this lovely post of quotes and photos-hugs from the lake (we are still hot too heat index in the 100's but actual temperatures mid 90's for several days ahead)

  26. So much to appreciate, absorb and enjoy in this post. I am visiting Prince Edward Island and froze the first weekend I was here. Thankfully no heat wave. Stay cool.

  27. Hello, Linda
I do enjoy your inspiring post and images.
    The waterfall sounds are peaceful.
We are expecting a hot week with little rain.
It is best to stay hydrated, stay cool indoors.
Take care, have a wonderful week!

  28. Love the videos. We stopped by a farmyard once and I sang to the cows there. They moved near where I was. I believe they would have stayed like that for hours listening.

    Stay cool and take care.

  29. I'm glad you're prepared for the heat wave.

Thank you for the inspiration and especially for sharing your photos. 🙂

Take care and stay as cool as possible!

  31. It seems like we are all experiencing a heatwave despite it only being June!

  32. I think we are in the same heat zone as you. Smart move on the electrolytes. And wise words on the OTC warning. I know I'm restricted with certain things. I've been drinking water like a fish -- this one is intense! Stay hydrated and take care!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow, that heat sounds intense! So glad you’re staying safe indoors and keeping hydrated with electrolytes—smart move! The waterfall images and bird videos sound like the perfect way to cool off, even if just mentally. Stay cool and take care!

  34. Stay cool! I'm glad you made some preparations.

  35. I´m with you on the reading, atm I read about cows.and I certainly, being in the City of Hernry the Lion, I love your profile-pic!
Lucky you with the heat wave! Here it sadly cooled down after a hot weekend, but soon we expect 37C!
And YES to the rain-pics! To all pics. The fountain indeed is calming. I have a small Lion-Founain on here when working.
LOL, I cannot dance, guess I´d be in trouble! Cute with the animals.

  36. The video with the music and animals, love it! We have also been very hot and humid.

  37. Whew - it's hard to stay cool and think cool thoughts. Take care. Nice pics and shares. Geese are impressive, but man, they can be mean. I stay away at local parks. At least, here in TX, our pool is still refreshing enough. By August it becomes a sauna. First world problem, I know. Have a good week and stay hydrated.

  38. You have lifted me up!! I love this: Be generous with gratitude, for it is contagious. So true!! The heat is terrible and we do need to stay hydrated!! Have a great week ahead!

  40. It was 30 degrees C today in my city and when I got up too quickly I became dizzy and lightheaded just like you did. I hate the heat. Fortunately, some rain came and now it'a a bit better. Maybe we'll get some release at night. I love all the pictures with rain in today's set. :)

  41. In my country (Poland) it's getting hotter and hotter, during the day I stay at home too :) it's too hot to be outside. You presented lots of inspiring quotes and pictures, I love them! Have a good week!
