Laughter, Gratitude and Canadian Thanksgiving!
Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking the time to come a visit me here!
Monday, October 13th, is our Canadian Thanksgiving! For those who may not know this, the reason our Thanksgiving is earlier than our U.S. friends' and neighbours', is because our harvest is in October. Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadian friends and bloggers!
Here are today's selections, which I hope will bring some brightness to your day!
Women and cats will do as they please. And men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. :)
The true measure of our Thanksgiving is how we use our blessings and not how we count them...we are all blessed in some ways...Canadian Thanksgiving.

One of the greatest awakenings comes when you realize that not everybody changes. Some people never change. And that's their journey. It's not yours to try to fix them.
A calm mind releases the most precious capacity a human being can have: the capacity to turn anger into compassion, fear into fearlessness and hatred into love.
Canada...we are not Americans. Not everyone lives in an igloo. We do not bathe in maple syrup, but if we could we would. It's not winter 12 months a year. We have a goose named after us. It's O.K. to say "EH!" Not everyone has a pet polar bear. We think the mountie's uniform is stylish. The beaver is a cherished animal. The best country in the world since 1867. :)

The following photos are my own, which I took on my walks here in Montreal this month on my cellphone. You can click on any image to see a larger view.
These last three photos are of one of my jackets. It has a zipper enclosure in the front. The material is polar fleece and I love it! You will notice that it also has a hood. I purchased this lovely jacket at Giant Tiger about 3 years ago for $35 (Canadian) dollars.
This is the back of the jacket.
This last photo is just to show what the material of the inside of the jacket looks like. It is comfortable and warm.

Happy Thanksgiving! I've always thought you in Canada do it right. I feel like November is too late. :) I love the one with the definition of Canada. I live in Michigan and people think some of those things about us too. I think I'd like the cat vet book.
Happy Thanksgiving to you tomorrow! I love the self help meme's the best. But I love squirrels too. Training your mind to be in the present moment is the number one key to making healthier choices. - Susan Albers Your coat looks warm - I don't even own a coat like that! Love, sandie
If I didn't have my coffee in the morning, I could in no way face all the nuts and nutty situations that seem to come my way daily, Linda. I absolutely love your jacket - so warm and cozy. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
Happy Thanksgiving! And your jacket us beautiful, and so unusual. I'm going to look for this book. My favorites are the first one and the Karen Salmansohn quote. And I DO believe that beavers should be cherished! Right down to their buck teeth and big flat tails!!
Awesome post as always-hugs Happy Thanksgiving-I did not know yours was in October I found the book on Ebay for $6.00 and free shipping so grabbed it. I end up buying books as the library is a good drive away and then having to drive back in 2 weeks to return them-easier for me to buy books-I look for used ones. Hoping your weather is ice Kathy
Happy Thanksgiving to you, dear friend Linda! Life being a dance sounds good (if only I could dance, haha...). Calmness is my goal. In fact my friend fK said she´s proud of me as I get calmer! And will live today - great words. Ohhh to the flowers and yay to your jacket, looks cozy! LOL on the soup! With a fork. Hihi. 1995 we transported a lava lamp throughout Australia and then had it shipped to Germany, thinking it was very special. Years later every shop in Germany had it... OMG those cages... no matter how often I see that... I get goosebumps! To an alert new week, much love and warm hugs from here!
The flower photos are so pretty, and your jacket is so beautiful. I love the pattern, and the lining is so warm. You can definitely use it. So many interesting posts again, with something to laugh at and cheer you up. Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving! hugs Elke
Good night to you Linda. I believe you are in your sweet dreams now at 1.30 am after midnight. It is Monday, October 13th at my side so I can wish you a very happy Canadian Thanksgiving day. Will you be having Thanksgiving dinner with your loved ones?
Dear Linda, I love the flowers photos that you took with your cell phone. I wish I could see these flowers in real life everyday. I hope they smell sweet and don't have that much pollens so that people won't get hay fever when near them.
Hi Linda, your blue white deer 🦌polar fleece jacket looks so cozy. If I am a cat🐈😺 I would be making biscuits, pushing my paws in and out, kneading dough on your jacket and then snuggle into it to sleep soundly having good dreams in front of a fireplace in winter ❄️. I believe winter in Montreal is very, very cold 🥶
wow that jacket is beautiful and so cheap. Your flowers are gorgous as well. Love the quotes My favourite is about that 'Some people never change' That's a hard one to learn
"Women and cats will do as they please. And men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." hah..hah..hah....I must send this quote to my partner! He is more of a dog person while I am a cat person (as you already know). I had no idea that there is a Canadian Thanksgiving. I am aware of the USA Thanksgiving. Well, Happy Thanksgiving, Linda!
Always a great way to start the week by visiting your blog :) We don't have birds per se but we have chickens and roosters, and those damn roosters sing in the middle of the night!! The coffee squirrel always makes me smile... the nuts we have to handle ;) Have a fantastic week, Linda!
That's very true that cats do what they want ! During my life I had five and now I am with Rosie 19 years old who terrorizes me, lol ! Beautiful pictures (as always)
Happy Thanksgiving. I've always thought a mistake was made , that Minnesota is too like Canada to not be Canada! Harvest in October. The igloo, the polar bear, etc. Heard it all!
There is not such a celebration in our country, Linda. I understand the meaning of this day and its symbolism. You have my best wishes. my dear friend. Have a nice week.
Happy Thanksgiving!! Your jacket looks so nice and warm. We are starting to cool down here in Northwest Wisconsin, I think the heat will go on tomorrow.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Did you invite that squirrel to dinner? LOL I love that book title - "All My Patients are Under the Bed." I need to find that book. Have a great week.

Lots of smiles here today and much common sense. Over the years I've realised it's better to be yourself and do what you're good at, it's just too hard to try and be someone else. Hugs Angela xXx

Good evening Linda, so many good stuff here. I would pick Tiny Buddha quote. Next, the Squirrel looks so cute, yes, we need a cup or two, not alcohol but coffee and tea for me. And my alarm clock, so true enough, are the birds (koel in specific cos they are so loud) in my neighbourhood's woods. And it will be cute to have a pet parrot who talks and says, "Good morning!", "Happy birthday 🎂!" to their owner.
Thanks a lovely jacket. I do shop at Giant Tiger. The closest one to me is in Campbellton N.B. about 1 1/2 drive from where I live. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Hi Linda. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I love to rearrange. I did that just yesterday and will do that again more today. It's the best feeling to move stuff around. And the cuppa one is cute too. You do a fun job of finding interesting reads. Cheers and boogie boogie 🎃
Lindo, your jacket is great and it surely looks very warm. I had a good laugh at the stereotypes about Canada and its people — unfortunately, such opinions have a long life and there are plenty of them about every country. Foreigners who come to Poland are also surprised by many things because they had a completely different image of us. Sending hugs!
I love all of your uplifting sayings you shared, Linda! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm looking forward to ours in the US in November! Have a wonderful week!
I had to laugh, we don't need a bird to wake us up our cats do a great job of that :) Your jacket looks so nice and cuddly, great price too! Thanks for the book info, I will have to check our Library :) Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Beautiful pictures and inspiring quotes...Thanks so much for visiting!! I am playing catch up on my visits...I hope you are having a great week!! Hugs, Deb Debbie-dabble Blog
ALWAYS your posts are a great delight! Loved the musical piece, and the really long fork (and spoon) in the soup! But what spoke to me the most today was the piece about worry, how it steals our joy, drains our peace, and keeps us spinning in circles. Thank you.
I didn’t realize Canadian Thanksgiving comes this early! That’s really interesting. Happy Thanksgiving, Linda. Hope your weekend is full of good food and gratitude! ❤
WE did notice on our calendar that it was Thanksgiving up that way. I like 'em but the first one is THE ONE! Women and cats, dogs and men! From way down and over and in our back yard
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. Your memes and photos are wonderful as always. And thank you for the book recommendation! I'm off to see if my library has it. :)
It's a grace to be able to say THANK YOU - We here in Bavaria had our Thanksgiving last week. Nearly all the harvest is inside now. Wonderful quotes! Yes: Not the big amount is important, the love and to be thankful. This polar-jacket is a dream! O I would buy it at once! Many greetings and blessings to you in your wonderful Canada from Dori from the Bavarian Forest -
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. Once again, thank you for all the wonderful quotes. I know from experience that it takes you a long time to put them together and it's appreciated.
now that was fun! and so enlightening. I lived in Canada for a couple years and wish I'd had that description to share with people in the US. No I didn't have a beaver but I stood and watched one work at Lake Louise, and said eh, and felt safe because of kind people around me LeeAnna at not afraid of color
Your post radiates calm and warmth. It’s a lovely reminder of how important gratitude, presence, and the little joys of each day are. Your photos from Montreal are beautiful!
That jacket looks so comfy! I’m loving the hood... perfect for staying warm and still looking cute. Can’t wait to try out that lava lamp DIY. Thanks for the fun post!
This post radiates such warmth and joy—it feels like a cozy fireside chat wrapped in autumn leaves. I loved the playful nods to Canadian quirks and the gentle humor woven throughout. Your jacket looks incredibly snug, and the flower photos are a lovely touch of serenity. The quotes you shared are like little soul snacks—especially the one about living in the present. What a beautiful way to celebrate Thanksgiving and the simple gifts of everyday life.
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to you and all your fellow Canadian readers. It's a wonderful time of year to celebrate the harvest and practice gratitude.
You've collected so many thoughtful quotes here. I especially appreciate the reminder that "Life is a dance between making it happen and letting it happen." That captures such an important balance.
I slid the Ally Donaldson image onto my desktop. Self care is something I often put last, and I can't continue that way. Thanks for the reminder, Linda, and all the other positive things in your post. I hope next week is a great one for you, my friend!

ReplyDeletenow that was fun! and so enlightening. I lived in Canada for a couple years and wish I'd had that description to share with people in the US. No I didn't have a beaver but I stood and watched one work at Lake Louise, and said eh, and felt safe because of kind people around me

ReplyDeleteThis post radiates such warmth and joy—it feels like a cozy fireside chat wrapped in autumn leaves.
ReplyDeleteHappy Canadian Thanksgiving to you and all your fellow Canadian readers. It's a wonderful time of year to celebrate the harvest and practice gratitude.
ReplyDeleteYou've collected so many thoughtful quotes here. I especially appreciate the reminder that "Life is a dance between making it happen and letting it happen." That captures such an important balance.
And thank you for the book recommendation
I slid the Ally Donaldson image onto my desktop. Self care is something I often put last, and I can't continue that way. Thanks for the reminder, Linda, and all the other positive things in your post. I hope next week is a great one for you, my friend!
