Take Care of Yourself!

Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to come and visit me here! I really appreciate you all so much! My next post will appear on my blog on Sunday at 7 p.m. Montreal time (clock is on right sidebar)

Here are today's picks, which I hope will brighten your day!

Good morning.  :)

Hope is seeing the light, despite all the darkness.

Did you know? Once a week for 20 minutes, sit in a hot bath that contains a handful of Epsom salts, 10 drops of lavender essential oil and a half cup of baking soda. This combination draws out toxins, lowers stress related hormones and balances your pH levels.

Sweet potatoes...bake smart.
Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) 45-60 minutes. Eat the skin: it's full of fiber and antioxidants. Add olive oil or cinnamon for added benefits.

Feeling depressed? An avocado may be just what you need. This green fruit contains high levels of Vitamin B6 and Folic Acid, which stimulate the production of a brain chemical that usually runs low in depressed people...serotonin.

Walk yourself out of your bad mood. Studies show that even a 10-minute walk immediately boosts brain chemistry to increase happiness.

Eating well is a form of self-respect.

One minute of anger weakens the immune system for 4 to 5 hours. One minute of laughter boosts the immune system for 24 hours.

Did you know? Deep breathing is one of the body's strongest self-healing tools. It lowers blood pressure, reduces heart rate, decreases stress hormones, oxygenates blood, exercises the lungs, increases physical and mental energy and improves immunity.

Did you know? A serving of eggs (2 medium) provides enough choline to support brain function for the day. They're an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins B12, D and riboflavin, as well as minerals like selenium and iron.

Nature has a way of bringing you back into a state of peace.

Good night. Sweet dreams.

The following photos are my own, which I took with my cellphone on my walks here in Montreal. You can click on any image to see a larger view.
This photo is of the facade of a pet supply store. "Pattes & Griffes" is French, meaning "Paws and Claws"

I took this photo of a bush in the parking lot of a shopping center. I just loved the red colour!

The following video is a Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal. Enjoy!  :)

  1. I think I am the only person ever that hasn't tried an avocado. Love the red bush photo.

    God bless.

I also like the Lizzie Jayne artwork. She's talented!
Very interesting about the anger vs laughter. It makes sense.

  3. Boa noite minha querida amiga Linda. A Casa Pacheco Leão é maravilhosa.

  4. Morning greetings from Kuala Lumpur. It's sunny and lovely today where I am. I have class in the afternoon. For today, I choose this quote: Hope is seeing the light, despite all the darkness... Anyway, you're sharing the sweet potatoes and the eggs; both are nutritious, healthy food! Take care, dear Linda

  5. Hi Linda, so many fun things to look at today. The video of the old golden retriever really tugged at my heart, so precious. Such cute memes. I also agree about walking to lift your mood, and I think eggs are a good source of protein too. I think in moderation almost all foods are good for us if we don't over do. I love lavender essential oil and sometimes put a drop on my wash cloth when I wash my face before going to bed. The smell is very restful. Have a nice evening ahead! :)

  6. I am not an avocado fan, but I do love sweet potatoes. I need to remember to eat them more often. Yes, taking a 10 minute brisk walk can really help clear the mind and get the body blood circulating again, and if you are feeling stressed (or angry), it will help to work it out of your system. I did that this morning after watching the news from last night. And then I refused to watch any more news the rest of the day. LOL. Love the kitty pictures and paintings. And I'm glad two eggs are good for you, because I eat two eggs most every morning. And yes, listening to the birds is a great stress reliever and it calms your nerves. I love to sit in our yard and just watch and listen to the birds. Very peaceful, especially when a certain Black cat comes and joins me on the garden bench. That is a little slice of heaven for me. Have a blessed and wonderful day.

  7. "Hope is seeing the light, despite all the darkness," after yesterday's elections there is hope and we can start seeing the light.
I love sweet potatoes, but have never eaten the skins. Eggs are a part of my morning. "Sometimes the best therapy is listening to birds sing," this works for me! Thanks linda for this wonderful post, take care and be well.
