Did I drink enough water? Am I nourishing my body with healthy food? Have I been kind to myself and others? Have I stretched all my muscles? Did I sleep well and did I sleep enough? How am I really feeling?

Eventually, you will understand why some family members keep to themselves. Why they're rarely involved. Why they leave early from events. You will no longer see them as outliers, but as people who choose to prioritize their peace. - Vex King

Best lesson I learned this year is you can't have one foot in your old life and one foot in your new life and expect change. Your have to fully commit to the new life.

Your mental health is more important than:

Someone else's perception of you. Your job title. Your follower count on Instagram. The number on the scale. Your appearance. A meeting on your calendar. The size of your house. Your weekend plans. Making everyone else happy.

The following are my own photos, which I took with my cellphone on December 1st on my walk here in Montreal. You can click on any image to see a larger view. This first photo is just an evergreen tree, but I found it special because of the red colour on part of the tree.

I love Winter, and I love the cold and the snow. This day, though, was one I had to be very careful. We had snow the day before, which somewhat melted and turned into slush. Overnight the temperatures dropped, and the slush became ice! Yes, this is my shadow you are seeing...if you look to the left of the photo past my shadow, you will see the flat pavement of the sidewalk. Past that, though, is the ice! (both to the left and the right of my shadow) Although I love the cold and snow, the ice is another story, because it can get quite dangerous, both for pedestrians and drivers. Yes, the city has trucks that put down salt or gravel, but you still need to exercise caution.

The following video is a Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal! Enjoy!  :)

  2. These are all such good reminders and words of wisdom. Also, yes, be very careful on the ice. We had a dear friend (years ago in New England) go out to her car and slip on the ice while opening her car door, and she fell and broke her neck. Thankfully she fully recovered (after surgery!), But it was a powerful lesson for all of us to be extremely careful on the ice. Thankfully, where we live now we don't have that problem. I enjoyed your post so much. That picture of the Professor Meow looks just like our sweet Sunshine who passed over the rainbow bridge recently. He was the sweetest kitty.

  3. Hello Linda! I hope you’re doing well today. I love the 5 minute health check meme. I took all of my vitamins today so I’m counting it a good day. I take 3 calcium tablets a day and it’s gets old fast, but I did it today and am grateful. Please, please be careful with all that ice. It’s so easy to fall in ice and hurt yourself. Stay warm and safe!
