Some News and more about myself
Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking time out from your busy day to visit me here! I really appreciate you all so much!
If you haven't yet, please be sure to check out my regular post at this link What Matters Most
I will share the little news that I have so far in relation to my health issues with the chronic cough and difficulty swallowing. I saw my family doctor on Monday. I have another test on March 12th in relation to these issues, and my doctor told me that the results could take a few weeks to come back. She will call me to tell me what the results are as soon as she gets them. My doctor told me that the first test (x-ray) of my throat and chest was positive! Nothing abnormal was found.
In the meantime, I will be going for a blood test in 3 weeks, as my doctor wants to look at my thyroid, and she also wants a urine test done to check everything. I have only one kidney since the age of 4. I am 69 now.
My right kidney was removed when I was 4 years old because the doctors said it was not functioning accurately. They told my parents their options...remove the kidney and I would have 50% chance to live...or choose not to remove it in which case I would surely die. So my doctor has been proactive, making sure that the kidney I have is functioning well. Thankfully it has been all these years, and I am very grateful.
My parents chose to give me a chance at life. You see, my parents had already lost 5 children before I was born. 4 were miscarriages, then my brother Richard, who was born in 1950, died at the tender age of 7 months in 1951....bronchial pneumonia.
I was born in 1956, just two months before my mother's 41st birthday! Anyway, thankfully I am still here and have not needed any form of dialysis, as I do my best to take care of the one kidney I have! I weigh 130 pounds and have never been a big eater! But I try to eat as healthy as I can!
I have never smoked, done any drugs, and I do not drink alcohol.
I will let you know any more news as such becomes available, but for now this is the news I have.
Thank you all so much for taking time to read my posts, it really means so much to me! Your love, friendship, support, prayers and thoughts on my behalf is a huge encouragement to me. A heartfelt thanks to you all!

ReplyDeleteKeeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
All the best Jan
Linda, first of all it is great that your lung X-ray was clear with no issues. I hope that your other tests go well and that there is nothing abnormal. I am sad that your siblings were lost at such tender ages. You are doing well even with just one kidney! I wish you well and good health always and I am keeping you in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so thankful so far the test come back good. Wow.... I am so thankful you are doing well with one kidney after all these years. Blessings. Prayers.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you! Those tests and waiting for the results can be pretty stressful. Hugs from all of us!
ReplyDeleteVery glad that the first tests came back good!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that your parents had your kidney removed. Five kids before that. Heartbreaking.
Thank you for sharing this with us, Linda. Bigggg huggggs.
...Linda, I hope that your medical team can find a way to correct your cough and difficulty swallowing. Be strong and well.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your upcoming medical tests!
ReplyDeleteI am praying that all your tests come back with great results.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you so much for sharing with us. Your poor folks. They had already been through so much — I’m so glad you survived and have been functioning fine with one kidney. That must have been scary for you too, having to be careful. I’m glad the tests look normal, and I hope they can cure the cough and swallowing problem. Much love and hugs. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI have a great nephew who was born with one kidney, and medical staff are not concerned, but it would be nice to have a spare. I'm pleased you look after yourself well and hope they get to the bottom of the coughing and swallowing issues.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing about your health. Good to know that u have been taking care of your health since the very beginning and that explains why u are healthy even with one kidney. take care dear linda and may your health/medical check up will all be good/positive!!
ReplyDeleteSo, the issue is still a mystery? Hopefully they'll figure out the issue so you can heal up. It's not fun not feeling well.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you have been getting good test results. I can't imagine the sorrow in your parents lives and the joy when they were able to raise you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! I hope the doctors find a reason for your difficulties and that it can be cured quickly. Prayers lifted!! xo
ReplyDeleteI am saying a prayer for your next March visit, Linda. I'm so sorry your mom lost five children. Having only one kidney since you were 4; you must really lead a healthy lifestyle. My mother had kidney issues as well, so I understand. Thank you for the update, as I have been thinking about you and hoping things will get better for you soon. Happy March Linda!
ReplyDeleteHopefully this clears up. A colleague got hit by a bad cold and was having trouble swallowing.
ReplyDeleteVery, very best to you!
ReplyDeleteCuídate mucho. Te mando un beso y mi cariño.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear nothing abnormal was found on the x-rays. Going through all those tests, and the waiting are the worst, before knowing the results. All the best, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us know! So far, so good.
ReplyDeleteVai dar tudo certo, querida amiga,
ReplyDeletecontinue nos dando notícias sobre sua saúde,
que tudo corra bem com você.
Um beijo 🌺💜🙏
It sounds like you're making some sound health choices.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know all that - sounds like you have always taken good carea of yourself.
ReplyDeleteDear friend Linda! The word "positive" sure made me jump! In fear! Usually that means bad news as in cancer or such...
ReplyDeleteOh, wow on your kidney.... It must´ve been very tough on your parents. Yay for good doctors! Number 6 for some reason is my lucky number, just by the way. So I am lucky I met you!
Warm hugs and much love on the way, to a healthy and mostly happy life!!
That's interesting about your kidney being removed. How awful for your parents to lose their baby boy at that tender age and to experience the miscarriages. I wondered about your thyroid with the difficulty swallowing, but it's not necessarily a thyroid problem. I have low thyroid and take a daily pill that keeps me functioning.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
May you continue to inspire us with your quotes and pics on things that matter the most. Is 70th birthday approaching? Take care.
ReplyDeleteGreat post
ReplyDeleteGood to know that your first scan was positive, Linda. It must have been very difficult for your parents to make any decision regarding to your kidney..thank GOD, they made a wise decision.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your life story; you and your parents haven't had it easy.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of you and sending you lots of strength during all the tests. The first ones are already positive!
Loving hug, Elke

ReplyDeleteGood evening, my dear friend! I'm really glad about all these good news and I wish you the best under my heart.
ReplyDeleteWe have about the same age, I am 65 years old.
Be healthy and strong, my dear Linda.
Dear Linda,
ReplyDeleteI’m keeping my fingers crossed for your health. I hope the remaining test results will be good and that you won’t have any reason to worry. You are a brave woman and you take good care of yourself. As a nurse, I know that it is perfectly possible to live with one kidney as long as it functions well. But for that to be the case, one has to do exactly what you are doing and lead a sensible and healthy lifestyle. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you good health and peace of mind. I will be waiting for your news!
I'm glad that your first test was positive in a negative way! I bet your parents were happy to have you. Experts say that we can function well with one kidney but are there certain things you have to be careful of? Thanks for sharing! I was born in August of 1956. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like so far, so good with your first xray. Wishing you all good results going forward!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all that you did here on this post.
Your parents were very brave, how scary it must have been for them. I am so happy you are doing so well, and taking such good care of yourself.
I will be praying for you as you await the tests to come back.
Love and Prayers,
Carla
Oh how scary and devastating for your parents - hallelujah for the one good kidney getting you to this point. I sometimes worry about swallowing - good luck on all tests upcoming.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you were a miracle baby for your parents. So thankful God provided and that you have done so well with just one kidney all these years. That is amazing. Praying for the results of these tests and for some answers that are helpful. Thank you for letting us know how to pray!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing a part of your life. I hope what ever is ailing you will soon be discovered and taken care of. It's sounds like you have taken care of yourself to have never needed dialysis. My husband lost one kidney to cancer 2 years ago and the other is not well. We are doing everything to keep him off of dialysis. Your parents made the right decision. I am sending healing energy to you.
ReplyDeleteMay your tests come out showing you to be in good health. Your wise habits are serving you well. I am praying for you.
ReplyDeleteYou parents are brave to go through all that. I bet you brought such joy to their life. I'm almost 41 (in a few months). I hope I will be able to adopt but my life is a bit complicated at the moment.
ReplyDeleteIt is great that you have such a healthy lifestyle. Such discipline is important when one has some health issue or condition. Living with one kidney, you must do health check ups regularly.
I also try to eat healthy and all of that as well.
I hope you figure out your cough and swallowing problem. The results should tell you more. Take care!
Sending love. I hope everything turns out okay. Xx

Thank you for the update on your health. I hope the tests will reveal what's wrong so the doctors can help you heal.

Your story is incredibly moving, and the strength woven through every part of it shines here. I am relieved to hear that the first tests showed nothing abnormal, and it is clear you are doing everything in your power to care for your health. The history you shared about your childhood and your parents’ losses is heartbreaking, yet it also shows how much courage and love carried your family forward. I hope the upcoming tests bring clarity and that the cough and swallowing issues have a simple, treatable cause. Holding you in warm thoughts and prayers as you wait for answers and wishing you steady comfort and peace in the days ahead.

ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear that, and I hope all other tests will come back normal. Take care of your kidney! And the whole of you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings on you Linda - hopefully the next round of tests will show nothing abnormal either, but if there is, that it's easily treatable.
ReplyDeleteAmiga, me alegro de sentirte tan animosa... Y de hacer todo lo preciso para seguir adelante siempre. Magnifico.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.
Good luck in your tests, dear friend.

ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping us updated on your health issues. Fortunately, nothing serious was seen on the X-ray. You're the same age (or young) as me 😄
You can live very well with one kidney, thankfully, and I'm glad you've weathered it well. Now for a blood test.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery, Linda.
Kind regards, Helma
I hope they find out what is ailing you and it is fixed soon!
