What Matters Most
Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to visit me here! I really appreciate you all so much!
Here are today's selections, which I hope will brighten your day.
Sometimes it takes a meltdown to cool down. - Evinda Lepins
Love without conditions...animals define unconditional love. Mirror of the soul...they remind us who we really are. Courage and compassion...strength without words.
Our duty of care...the greatest of a nation is judged by how it treats its animals.
Animals don't just share our homes. They share our humanity.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead
It's okay to disappoint people sometimes, you can't control their expectations. And being disappointing doesn't make you a failure or unworthy of kindness.
I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights.
I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. - Maya Angelou
Karen Salmansohn
You are not obligated to match the pace of a world that never pauses. You can move slowly or choose stillness whenever life feels too fast...and you'll probably be happier for it. - Lori Deschene
We have two lives: the one we learn with and the life we live after that. - Bernard Malmud
Becoming Unbusy
Never underestimate the valuable and important difference you make in every life you touch for the impact you make today has a powerful rippling effect on every tomorrow. - Leon Brown
Pass It On
Close your eyes for a minute. Take a deep breath. Remember what really is important in life. Forget all the rest. Grab life, live and love every moment.

Your mental health is everything - prioritize it. Make the time like your life depends on it, because it does. - Mel Robbins

I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source. - Doris Day
The following photos are my own, which I took with my cellphone last month. I went one morning to a delicatessen for breakfast. I had just smoked salmon, there were three thin slices of the smoked salmon, two sunny side up eggs, rye toast, coffee and water.
It was delicious. You can click on any image to see a larger view.
These last two photos are ones that I took in a park that the city had so beautifully decorated for the winter. The city also made a skating rink on one of the paths in the park so that anyone skating and enjoying the exercise and fresh air would have these beautiful views. As well, anyone walking in or by the park could also enjoy these views. I just had to take these last two photos last month, near the end of February, before the city takes them down. The round balls that you see higher in the photos are actually lights suspending from the regular trees! They are ornaments. As far as the fir trees go, the city will take them down soon along with the ornamental lights, as they do every year.
The following video is a Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal. I have posted this one on my blog before, months ago, but some of you may not have seen it, and those of you who have may enjoy seeing it again. It is a favourite! Enjoy! :)

Animals are less complicated than humans! Oh, I love your breakfast, Linda. That is a breakfast that I would enjoy very much. I also love your photos of the decorated park!
Hello Linda and happy midweek. Yum! The breakfast at the delicatessen sounds delicious. I did like the two photographs showing the winter lights/ Christmas trees in the park. A nice musical choice from B J Thomas.
good morning dear linda! today i have 2 -hour-class. It has been a hectic week since this week is the first week of new semester. anyway, i love this quote: Life is so much brighter when we focus on what truly matters...it's so true indeed!! sending warmest regards and best wishes from afar. take care
There's nothing like a good deli breakfast! Winnipeg (where I used to live) had some great delis. Edmonton (where I live now) does not. I feel the loss keenly.
Those are such beautiful photos! The snow, the trees and the lights are stunning. I've had people come and go in my life and it's jarring but I've adapted. If they didn't want to stay, they weren't meant to be around anyway. That looks like a lot of salmon! I love eggs any time of day.
"The greatness of a nation is judged by how it treats its animal" - I was so impressed how well stray animals in Turkey are treated. It really warmed my heart. Wonderful post again, Linda - thank you so much.
I especially loved the words about animals. They truly show us what unconditional love looks like. Thank you for this thoughtful post. Greetings from Cracow, Poland from me and my cat Fluffy🙂
Memes are nice, Linda and your meal for breakfast looks good, never had smoked salmon but eat salmon not smoked, the eggs look good too. I do like your photos of the scene, lovely. Videos are nice as always.
I enjoyed myself and nodded along to all your wisdom and quotes. Your breakfast looked delicious, I think it's great, and the snow decorations are lovely – ours are all gone already. Thank you for this wonderful time on your blog, it did me so much good! Have a great week!.hugs Elke
Thank you so much for these wonderful inspirations this morning, Linda! Yes, always speak up for animals! Your breakfast does indeed look delicious. Big hugs.
I like your breakfast, Linda. Actually Canadian breakfast is well balanced in terms of protein and carbohydrates, compared with Italian and French one (for example croissants and donuts).
Failing to fulfill someone's expectations (or being disappointing) doesn't make us rude or unpolite. I agree on this.
Our mental health is more important than our self-presentation. That's a great point, Linda.
Thanks, Linda, once again for your contributions. "Life is much brighter when we focus on what truly matters." Today I chose precisely that phrase from the ones that appeared. Sometimes you read several and move on, but this one made me stop for a moment. It felt simple and very accurate, one of those you read and pause to think about for a second. And thanks as well for showing the breakfast that inspired the photo: salmon, rye toast and fried eggs. That’s a great way to start the day.
Oh my I loved the loudspeaker restaurante :D that's how households in Portugal work heheheh! The rat driving the cars was astonishing - aren't they smart! And to top all ths off, Raindrops falling on my head! I haven't heard that song in a long time! It just brightens the day! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hello Linda, The park look pretty with all the decorations at night. I love all the inspiring quotes and cute images. Live and love every moment. Take care, enjoy your day!
Your blog, quotes you choose, everything makes me feel better. Happy to see so many massages about animals, I love them so much, appreciate. My dog is my family member, I would do everything for him. :) This park you was on a walk is so lovely, I love Christmas time, all magical decorations and snow. :) Have a nice day, all the best to you. hugs. <3
Bom dia minha querida amiga Linda.
Thank you, you really cheered me up when i needed it most this morning! Especially the cats, reminded me of putting myself first, which I seem to forget recently.... Hugs from Germany!
Helo Linda, my dear friend. Beautiful thoughts, nice images, songs full of feelings. The best for all these difficult days. My best regards, Linda for the rest of the day.
We have so many family friends that are our family. That one is so true. I was so slow in getting out of the pool after my aqua therapy yesterday. Part of me was trying to rush so I didn't "look" so sad/bad. Then, I stopped and thought, you can NOT go to fast, you WILL fall again, WHO Cares what others think. So good ones for me this week.
Oi, Linda! Adorei todas as mensagens! Me chamou a atenção o café da manhã que você tirou foto: vcs comem peixe de manhã no café! Aqui peixe só no almoço e salmão é bastante caro, geralmente compro outros peixes. Beijos nas bochechas! 😘🌺
#1, the meltdown thing, was me exactly. And that frog video-that frog was so fortunate to be in that man's salad greens. it could have ended so differently.
Wise quotes and to always learning, dear friend Linda. Oh, I know fish is healthy, but.... sadly not my world. Your sense of humor!! LOL! Ohhhh, that frog, so cute and clever (I read, tjough, you are not to touch frogs, it can make their skin sick). And the rats! Love the rain-song, of course. Warm hugs and much love on the way.
Some many memes here that I can relate to today. The salmon breakfast looks delish. I haven't had smoke salmon in ages. The park is so pretty in the winter evenings. You live in such a beautiful area. Thank you, sweet Linda, for sharing. Hugs, Jeanna
Dear Linda :) I love the Doris Day quote, so true. I enjoyed the video clips and the music. and your photos of the trees and lights are really beautiful.
I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch much lately. You might remember that I wrote about my little cat Baribal, who became very ill, couldn’t be saved, and had to be put to sleep. I stayed with him until the end, watching him suffer for many hours and feeling helpless. I’m trying to get back to normal, but it’s not easy for me. I still can’t get over it, and to be honest, pictures of animals and quotes about them feel like salt in the wound.
Even so, please remember that you are doing a great job and bringing a lot of joy to people. I sincerely send you my regards and wish you happiness!
Dear friend, thank you for letting me know. I have had cats most of my 69 years and I understand the pain 😢 😭 when we lose a friend. Please 🙏 don't be hard on yourself and give yourself time to heal. Thank you so much for your kind comment 😊 Sending you love ❤️ and hugs 🫂 🤗
Z těch moudrých slov si určitě každý něco vybere. Měla jsi výbornou snídani! My si občas koupíme k obědu kousek lososa, ale není uzený. Je to lahodná chuť. Vajíčka v této úpravě si doma také připravíme, u nás se jim říká "volské oko". Je to moc dobré. ☺
I especially liked the one about missing parents. I loved my mom, and March 5 was her birthday. She passed away 31 years ago and is still dear to my heart. ❤️
This...... It's okay to disappoint people sometimes, you can't control their expectations. And being disappointing doesn't make you a failure or unworthy of kindness." Spoke to me.
I do believe that our mental health needs to come first, we won't be any good for ourselves or others if we don't take care of that first. So nice that the park keeps the lights up passed Christmas to enjoy :) Raindrops keep falling on my head, I remember that song, i will have that stuck in my head now :)
Dear Linda, what a delicious 😋🤤 meal of salmon and eggs. I love to eat smoked salmon too and it is only available in cafes here, not local coffee shops.
Dear Linda, thank you for the photos of the trees and lights before they are taken down in spring. Soon you will be taking many photos of the beautiful flowers in spring.
Great quotes, and so true on those fur babies. I look at my Razzy (Morkie) and am amazed at the patience he has with me when I'm not sure what message he is relaying with the staring look. Enjoyed visiting your blog. Have a great weekend.
Such a comforting mix of gentle wisdom and small joys. The quotes you chose this time feel especially grounding, and the reminders about slowing down and tending to our own well‑being really resonated. Your breakfast photos made me smile too – simple moments like that can set the tone for the whole day. The winter lights in the park look magical, almost like a quiet celebration lingering a little longer. Your posts always create a peaceful pause in the middle of everything, and this one did exactly that.
Las frases como siempre geniales, de tus fotos decir que me parecen fantásticas y esas del parque me parecen navideñas. El video humorístico me parece una versión modernizada de una antigua practica de algún local aquí en España.

ReplyDeleteThat little pig is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI loved BJ Thomas and saw him in concert once. The clip you shared brings good memories.
I hate seeing how some humans treat animals badly. They even making animal abuse content just for fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wisdom and the giggles!
ReplyDeleteThose are such beautiful photos! The snow, the trees and the lights are stunning. I've had people come and go in my life and it's jarring but I've adapted. If they didn't want to stay, they weren't meant to be around anyway. That looks like a lot of salmon! I love eggs any time of day.
ReplyDeleteBuenos consejos. Me gustaron los videos. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteYes, you do have to be related to make a family, very true. Thank you for sharing with us, Linda.
ReplyDeleteBelinda
I meant to say you do NOT have to be related in order to make a family. Sorry about that.
DeleteBelinda
The dog in the Doris Day quote looks like my niece's dog, Delilah.

I loved your photos of the trees still lit as though it's Christmas, Linda. How cheerful! Thank you for the fun and inspiration as always.
ReplyDeleteAs always, starting with cats, is such a good thing. And it is okay if dogs and other animals also make an appearance. 😄
ReplyDeleteAn ice rink along a path reminds me of Beaver Lake when I was a boy. I wonder if they still do that.
Critters definitely make MY world.

I'm not really into reptiles (we have a lot of those very small Geckos here in Florida). That little bitty frog in the man's salad was cute!
ReplyDeleteMmm..., Linda...! Not with a loudspeaker I hope...! :-)
