A Holiday Mix

Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking time to come and visit me here! I really appreciate it so much!

Here are today's selections, which I hope will brighten your day in some way!

In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you. - Deepak Chopra

Purrs of Wisdom with Ingrid King

If the world feels heavy, let this reminder be a counterweight. There are still people out there holding umbrellas for strangers. Still kids waving to garbage trucks. Still nurses trying their shoes in quiet hallways, choosing to show up. Kindness isn't gone. It's just not shouting as loud as some of the other stuff. - Karen Salmansohn

Stop. Unclench your jaw. Soften your brow. Relax your shoulders. Breathe.

The morning stillness is like a greenhouse in which we can gently take root, helping us prepare for the winds of the day.

Free snowman...some assembly required. :)

Purr softly and carry a big stick.  :)

It's by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. - Joseph Campbell

Being afraid of things going wrong isn't the way to make things go right.
Karen Salmansohn

The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a puppy.

Today's Blissful Forecast...heavy snowflakes of blessings, strong winds to blow your worries away, followed by warm caring hugs and snowflake kisses to put a smile on your face.  :)

Candy cane wishes and mistletoe kisses.
May the good times and treasures of the present become the golden memories of tomorrow.
Wishing you lots of love, joy and happiness.
Happy Holidays!

Encouragement may be the greatest gift we give this Christmas!
Inspire Positive Soul Sensations

Sometimes you have to forget what's gone, appreciate what remains and look forward to what's coming next.

Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.

Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them more!  :)

Your mindset determines whether you see obstacles or stepping stones.
Big Cat Rescue

Once you start working on something, don't be afraid of failure and don't abandon it. People who work sincerely are the happiest. - Chanakya

All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors - in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver. - Mr. Rogers
Bright Drops

Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent. Be careful that you don't let other people spend it for you. - John Dryden

It's not whether animals will survive, it's whether the man has the will to save them.

The following photos are my own, which I took on my cellphone of Christmas decorations in parks and front of houses in Montreal. You can click on any image to see a larger view. The first two photos are in front of homes.

These last photos are all taken in a Montreal park. This is yet another park, different from the last two parks.

The following video is a Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal. Enjoy!  :)

This cat walks a woman's daughter to the school bus every single morning  :)

This man built tiny homes for wild squirrels and this is what happened  :)

  2. I enjoyed this so much, especially the "Sleigh Ride" song! Took me back to a wonderful sleigh ride we had in NH many years ago with our son and his family. It was a wonderful memory. Thank you for always sharing such positive thoughts with us. This was good. Happy New Year!

  3. I like the combination of lights and snow on that one bush.

  6. Thank you for your cheerful and encouraging posts this year!

  7. You posted a cat that is a kindred spirit to Teddy Roosevelt who said to "Speak softly and carry a big stick."

Montreal is, evidently, a good place to walk about and take pictures.

  8. Oh my goodness, that squirrel video made me tear up! How sweet!

  9. "Stop. Unclench your jaw. Soften your brow. Relax your shoulders. Breathe."
I'm such a jaw clencher, so that's a good reminder.

  11. That's a gorgeous park! I love snow photos although I'm not a huge fan of the white stuff. It can stay in our mountains! :) Meeting meanness with kindness and calm with loudness can be difficult but also can diffuse stressful situations.

  12. dear linda. morning greetings from kuala lumpur. it's monday again! i have a class today and now is the 12th week of semester for my university (remaining 2 weeks before my students start their revision week). anyway, i choose this quote : Sometimes you have to forget what's gone, appreciate what remains and look forward to what's coming next..... the key is to appreciate whatever we have today, indeed! sending virtual hugs from afar! take care and have a lovely week ahead!

  20. A very wise thought: kindness hasn't disappeared; it endures, but it's very quiet. I really like the quote: "Sometimes you have to forget what's gone, appreciate what remains, and look forward to what's next." Thank you, Linda, for so many wonderful and kind thoughts, not just for the holidays but for every day :)

You've had plenty of snow by the look of it.

  30. Dear Linda, the 7 photos taken by you are really lovely. Decorations in real snow definitely win over decorations in countries without snow.

  35. Dear friend Linda, indeed one time a very good looking blonde woman on a garbage truck waved at me as I greeted her :-)
And yes, in Germany they still stand on the back of the truck!
And I do have a ring that says: "Take a deep breath".
    Are you my twin?
And yes. My friends kept encouraging me and I made it - despite I am oooold :-) And they said, we learn from one another, too.
    To the next!
LOL on the enemies - I had 2 1/2 in my life. Actually one - the others were but dumb... And I forgave them.
And yes. I think (....) I will try the test again - no promise, though.
Shoot. I will be a giver. Onion cake from scratch! huhhhh - wish me luck! I´m a beginner still!
Wonderful Christmas pics - am I glad we leave for sunny Perth once the happy night-lights will be gone. Always the saddest time of the year.
Cats are so cute, sweet and smart. Thank you for sharing this, I share a tear or two with you.
And the Squirrels! I am so sad "Peanut" is gone...
Frosty brought us another cold, huh, my - I wish you a happy Monday, warm hugs and much love 😘

  37. Hola Linda.

  43. Happy Monday! I love your photos of the lights, such a delight to see. I admit that I'm glad Christmas is over, though, I really wasn't in the mood for it this year, though I had a good day anyway.

Take care out and about, especially if you are getting this messy freezing rain/rain mix that we currently are. (I'm only 3 hours or so west of you!)

Finally, a very Happy (almost) New Year! 😊🎉

I am a caregiver and have learned that sometimes you really do have to accept a new reality and go forward from there. I hope that there are good things ahead that you never would’ve experienced otherwise

The reminders about stillness and kindness land especially well this time of year, and your snowy Montreal photos add such a peaceful atmosphere. The squirrel house and the devoted cat walking the little girl to the bus both brought a smile. A lovely way to close out the season and step into the new year with a lighter heart.
