Happiness, Mental Health

Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers! A very warm welcome to you all! Thank you so much for taking time to come and visit me here! I really appreciate it!

Here are today's picks, which I hope will brighten your day!

Easy like Sunday.  :)

Every cat is a work of art.  :)
Cat Wisdom 101

Sometimes you have to accept the fact that certain things will never go back to how they used to be.

Sometimes we can't find the thing that will make us happy...because we can't let go of the thing that was supposed to.

You can't change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it. - Mahatma Gandhi

Then, just like magic, all the potholes were filled.  :)

This year taught me that my loneliness has more to do with myself than anyone else. The loneliest I will ever be is when I do not have the strength to love myself. - Marianna Paige

I have depression, but I prefer to say "I battle" depression,
instead of "I suffer" with it. Because depression hits, but I hit back. Battle on.

Happiness is being happy by yourself and for yourself. Good morning.

Misery loves company, but that doesn't mean you have to accept the invitation. - Gary Renard

If one speaks or acts with a cruel mind, misery follows, as the cart follows the horse...if one speaks or acts with a pure mind, happiness follows, as a shadow follows its source. - The Dhammapada

If you see someone who is trying to make you angry or upset, don't react. It is not your job to make negative people happy.

It's not less "manly" to seek mental help.

The following photos are my own, which I took with my cellphone on December 28th here in Montreal. Note that it was a sunny day, but very cold! It is always colder in the Winter on sunny days than on snowy days. You can click on any image to see a larger view.

This last photo is icicles hanging from a building. I always tell people that if you are going into a building or store and you see icicles like this above you, put your head down. This way, if any icicle falls on you, you should not sustain any injury, as it will fall onto your hat and not your face.

This was a large flock of pigeons in a small park near a metro station in Montreal.

The following video is a Just for Laughs Gag (Juste pour Rire in French) done here in Montreal. Enjoy!  :)

Tiny octopus gets so excited when his diver friend comes to visit him (The Dodo)

  1. That tiny octopus video just really blew my mind! I love how the octopus and the diver became friends! Amazing how man can interact with God's little creatures and become friends!! I am learning that with my "porch kitty". He watches for us when we come and go and is always happy to greet us. It is so special. I loved all your pictures/memes. They are very meaningful! Happy new Year!!

  2. "and just like that, all the potholes were filled!" Too funny, that's the case in Michigan too.
I love the surfing cat too.

  3. So many lovely pics. My favourite is the photograph of pigeons you took. I love pigeons. They are intelligent birds.
I like how you prefer to say that you battle depression instead of saying that you suffer from depression. Using the verb battle certainly gives a feeling of being more proactive.
Have a great year ahead. I wish you all the best!

  4. “This year taught me that my loneliness has more to do with myself than anyone else. The loneliest I will ever be is when I do not have the strength to love myself. “. Amen to that! ❤️

  5. Those pictures that you took do look like it was cold. We've had a bit of a warm up and it's been in the 40's the past couple days. We've had rain though so it hasn't been that great

  6. Fun to see your Montreal pictures--a place I'll never see in person. Great quotes. I always try to remember the one by Gandhi.

  7. I giggled at the beware of geese picture. Our youngest used to bicycle to university through Wascana Park in Regina and would be chased by angry geese every day.

    God bless.

  8. Hello Linda
Thank you for another great collection of pictures/sayings/memes.
I enjoyed the videos you've shared too.
May the rest of the week go well for you.

    All the best Jan

  9. I don't watch the gag videos, I don't find them funny, but I did LOVE the surfing cat and the tiny octopus.

  10. ...Linda, this is such a lovely post. What jumped out at me is, "Sometimes you have to accept the fact that certain things will never go back to how they used to be," and "You can't change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it!" And of course, "Then, just like magic, all the potholes were filled." Be warm and well!

  11. Oh, those icy pictures made me shiver!! I always find a few of your offerings that are meaningful!! Loved the Misery loves company one. Don't accept the invite!! Have a good evening, my friend!

  13. Ah, letting go of what didn't happen in the past... That can be a hard one. (The icicles fall onto your hat? That's assuming you're wearing a hat...)

    1. (I was being snarky about the hat thing. We don't get icicles where I live, and most of us don't wear hats.)

  14. Thank you so much, Linda for sharing . Your selection of quotes always brings comfort . It looks like a cold day in your neck of the woods. Yikes yes look out for those icicles! Have a blessed week.

  16. So much inspiration to make our days more meaningful, Linda! None of us could ever hope to be perfect, but knowing we are loved by a perfect God makes all the difference. Blessings, my friend!

  17. I battle depression at times, too. My depression was in remission for a couple of years, when a situation at work almost a year ago brought it to the fore again. It's getting better now. My anxiety never goes away, but I fight it as well. We are not victims, are we?

    Love,
    Janie

  19. dear linda, morning greetings from kuala lumpur. i have just completed my final lectures for this semester (university) and final exams for my students will start after 2 week time. anyway, for today's quote, i choose this one: You can't change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it.! as usual, i always adore all the snow pics that u have taken with your cellphone! they are all awesome!!

  20. I'm a sissy when it comes to icicles!

    ReplyDelete
  21. So true about every cat is a work of art! Thank you for sharing, Linda.

  22. Oh my gosh, those icicles! they are lethal weapons. I wonder why sunny days are colder than snowy ones. Your photos remind me of the Simon & Garfunkel song "A Hazy Shade Of Winter"

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love so many of these quotes and really needed the inspiration and positivity today.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Very wise words. You have to fight depression, not suffer with it. It's difficult, but life is too short to suffer through it. It's important to find the beauty within yourself and nurture it, like a sensitive plant. Warmest regards :)

  25. Merci pour cette très jolie page.
    Bonne journée.

  26. Despite no cats I think I must be thankful, dear friend Linda.
To give you back something positive: My "little" Brother who was always sad was so happy on his last call, I smiled all day!
To battling back! And to please never take medication. They made me and it got worse. I won :-) - to happiness!
I wonder if Anne Frank really said all this? She was a child in a very, very bad situation, a child.... or, in her mind an old woman?
Birds can be mean. Happened to me twice, "LOL".
Weee... thank you - I´ll look up for icicles. I never did!
It´s mean, but you made me laugh. We visited our sewage treatment plant years ago, oh....
    The surfing cat, awww...and awww...
Thank you, warm hugs and much love on the way 😘

  27. Those are such cold snow photos and amazing big icicles! I wouldn't want to get caught in that kind of weather.
They're all wonderful quote images, I can really use them, and they warm my heart. So thank you so much, and I hope you're doing well under the circumstances! I think of you!!!
    Hugs Elke

  28. It's always coldest with a clear sky, cloud cover always make it warmer, when I lived in England I always loved a crisp clear chilly winters day.
And, how deeply I miss the snow and slush 😔
Absolutely LOVE the meanwhile in Canada. I always laugh out loud 🥰

  31. My cats are currently frolicking in the snow, it is ankle deep and minus 6 outside, lots of shoveling, but at least we did not have any ice rain on top of it to crust it up and make it lethal.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love the memes and many so true.
Your photos are enjoyable, Linda, good advice re icicles, never been near any fortunately because of where I live.
Just for laughs is good and the cat, heard of cats going surfing before.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Every cat is a work of art" - and often just as hard to interpret! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Those icicles are scary, think I've seen too many horror films.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Being alone and loneliness is not the same thing and some people fail to recognize that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dear Linda, my pick today, If one speaks or acts with a cruel mind, misery follows, as the cart follows the horse...if one speaks or acts with a pure mind, happiness follows, as a shadow follows its source. - The Dhammapada. I love your own photos of Montreal during a bright sunny snowy day. Stay safe, stay warm and take care!

  37. Seeing cats always makes me happy :) That geese sign lol! Be careful when you go out on the slippery pavement, Linda!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks for all the inspiration. My first day back to work was yesterday, I need it. 😆

Careful underfoot when you're out and about! I hope your area does a better job on sidewalk clearing than ours does. It's like our city's policy is to let it melt come spring. 🙄

    Saludos.

  40. That is some very long icicles. Sure wouldn't want one to fall and hit someone. Depression is REAL and it takes one's self and those around them to beat it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anxiety is real too. I'm anxious just looking at the icecicles.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Dear Linda, I like the photos you took in Montreal on that sunny and cold morning. Also the photo of the pigeons looking for supper.
    Greetings from Italy 💚🤍🧡

  43. Dear Linda!
Thank you so much for all these wise quotes. A cold winter has descended upon my country. I don't like this time of year.
    Sending hugs and greetings.

  47. "Misery loves company but you do not have to accept the invitation" is a good one! I always enjoy seeing your photos of Montreal. Icicles are pretty but, I agree, can be dangerous. Have a great weekend, my friend!

  53. As always, many nice pictures and a lot of words of wisdom. I need to think over the one about loneliness and who's responsible for it. Maybe it's really me....

  54. Looks cold in Canada!
'Sometimes you have to accept the fact that certain things will never go back to how they used to be.' Thinking back to raising my grandson and how he is now.

  55. Thank you so much for all these quotes. 🥰

  56. Thank you for this honest, difficult post. I’m very touched by the idea of depression as a battle and by the loneliness that begins when we lose touch with ourselves. Your words and photos show well how much is happening beneath the surface, even on a bright, sunny day.
    Greetings from me and Fluffy:-)

  62. Today I met a Woman when I was removing the snow from my car. I'd seen her a couple of times and she always greeted me politely.
So we had a conversation and she told me she's mentally disabled. My reply was: I don't think so, because who's normal these days?
She was visually happy when I said that.
Your post just reminded me about that meeting.
Just remember Linda: Be Light and Love!

  71. The cat in the water is quite amazing. I've never known a cat to like water beyond drinking it.

  72. People who don't experience depression or mental health issues find it hard to understand what we go through. They think it is our fault. But we know what we know and we pray to God for comfort and guidance.

  73. LD....My older brother says he naps more often now. He has a large fluffy cat that monitor his naps and is there right away and places its paws in his hands each time.

  74. I like the battle depression instead of suffer too.
Wow those icicles always scare me when they are like that.
Hoping you are feeling better , take care!

  75. Thank you for sharing, Linda. Bailey and I once watched a man come out of the pharmacy at the same time that a hunk of snow fell off the roof and onto him. He was not hurt. We all looked at each other and just laughed. Watch out for those icicles!

  76. How are you feeling? Hope you were able to get relief for your throat issue and it wasn't anything serious.
That beware of geese sign is too funny.
I always enjoy the photos you take on your cell phone.
